Walton - Okaloosa Construction Traffic Advisory

Walton County – 03/06/26 – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

Walton County:

• Western Lake Bridge Replacement – Drivers may encounter temporary County Road 30A traffic stoppages near Western Lake Bridge, Sunday, March 8 through Saturday, March 14, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. for construction activities.

Delays are expected to last less than 15 minutes and intermittent flagging will be in place to guide vehicles and pedestrians through the work zone.

• U.S.331 Turn Lane Operation South of Madison Street - Motorists may encounter intermittent northbound outside lane closures Sunday, March 8 through Thursday, March 19 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for turn lane closure operations.

Okaloosa County:

• Brooks Bridge Replacement Project – Drivers will experience a temporary traffic shift on U.S. 98 over Brooks Bridge the week of Sunday, March 8 between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Both travel lanes will shift to the eastbound side of U.S. 98, from just west of Perry Avenue in Fort Walton Beach to Santa Rosa Boulevard on Okaloosa Island, to allow crews to work on the new bridge deck and is expected to occur for one night only. Additionally, drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures, Sunday, March 8 through Thursday, March 12, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction activities at the following locations:

Santa Rosa Boulevard from U.S. 98 to Ross Marler Park. Signage and traffic flaggers will be in place to safely direct drivers through the work zone.

U.S. 98 from Ferry Road to Pier Road.

• State Road (S.R.) 85 Resurfacing Project from U.S. 98 to Richbourg Avenue - Drivers will encounter alternating S.R. 85 lane closures, from U.S. 98 to Richbourg Avenue, Sunday, March 8 through Thursday, March 12, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for manhole and valve adjustments.

• U.S. 98 and S.R. 293 Resurfacing Project - Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures on U.S. 98 from Paraiso Boulevard to Regions Way, and S.R. 293 (Danny Wuerffel Way) from U.S. 98 to the Mid-Bay Bridge, Sunday, March 8 through Thursday, March 12, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for sidewalk repairs.

• U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Santa Rosa County Line to west of Josie Road – Motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts:

Shoulder closures are to be expected throughout the project limits U.S. 98 on Monday, March 9, through Friday, March 13, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for utility relocation and median improvements.

Lane and shoulder closures are to be expected on Sunday, March 8, through Thursday, March 12, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for median improvements.

• Interstate 10 (I-10) eastbound Rest Area and Truck Parking Improvement Project – The I-10 eastbound rest area at mile marker 59 will be closed Sunday, March 8 and Monday, March 9, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
