Facility History
Transfer Station and Material Recovery Facility
The Transfer Station was established in the 1990s and later expanded to include the MRF for recycling. In response to population growth and evolving waste needs, a modern Transfer Station was constructed in 2018 to improve waste transfer and recycling efficiency.
Class III Landfill Development
The Class III Landfill began in the 1980s as a trench-and-fill site. It was later upgraded to a Class III facility, with the first major cell—Cell 1—reaching a final elevation of about 300 feet. As Cell 1 neared capacity, planning began for a new cell, known as Cell 2, to continue supporting long-term waste disposal needs.
Cell 2 Development
Design of Cell 2 began in 2020 to expand landfill capacity. It was divided into Cell 2A and Cell 2B for efficient construction and environmental compliance.
Construction of Cell 2A was completed in 2021 and is now operational. Featuring modern design and infrastructure, Cell 2A supports responsible waste disposal and environmental stewardship.
