Engineering Active Projects
Walton County has adopted a Five Year Work Plan provided by the Engineering and Public Works Department. The most current and previous work plans are available here.
Design projects are considered to be in the conceptual, design, or permitting phases. This task could be handled by a continuing consultant working under Walton County's direction or may be performed by Engineering and/or Environmental Department staff.
Substantially Complete indicates that final plans and an opinion of probable cost have been completed. On-going project efforts differ for every project but typically include maintaining permits, coordinating mitigation with appropriate agencies, coordinating with impacted utility providers, seeking right-of-way acquisition and/or construction easements and identifying funding sources for applicable projects.

Construction is the phase where projects—like roads, bridges, and sidewalks—are under construction with In-House crews or are outsourced to General Contractors. Walton County construction projects are built based on funding source requirements and In-House crew availability.
Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) is the team that oversees the construction work to make sure everything is built safely, correctly, and according to standards. They help keep projects on time, on budget, and up to quality.
